Privacy Policy
Verger · Last updated: 29 April 2026
Verger is a French-language learning app that turns photos you choose into short
conversations. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and what you can
do about it. We try to keep this short and direct.
What we collect
- Account info. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address, your display name, and your profile picture URL. We never see your password.
- Photos you upload. The image is sent to Google's Gemini API so the assistant can describe it in French. We also store a reference to it in your account so it can reappear in your "garden" of past sessions.
- Conversations. The French text you and the assistant exchange is saved to your account so you can revisit it.
- Vocabulary. Words you tap to save are stored against your account.
- Voice. Your speech is transcribed on-device by Apple's Speech Recognition; the transcript becomes a chat message stored on your account. We do not store the raw audio.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect contacts, calendar, location, advertising identifiers, or device usage outside the app.
- We do not run third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
Who else sees your data
- Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your account data lives in Supabase. Privacy.
- Google Gemini processes the photo + conversation text to produce the French response. Per Google's policy for paid API tiers, this content is not used to train Google's models. Terms.
- Google and Apple handle the sign-in step (we receive only your email, name, and avatar URL).
How long we keep things
Your data stays in your account until you delete it. You can delete a single conversation
or vocabulary entry from inside the app. You can delete your entire account from
Profile → Delete account; this immediately and permanently removes every
conversation, vocabulary word, photo reference, and account record tied to you. There is
no grace period and no recovery.
Children
Verger is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use Verger.
If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will delete
it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you have the right to know what data we hold about you, to correct it,
and to delete it. The Delete account button does the deletion automatically. For anything
else, email us (below) and we will respond within 30 days.
Security
Data in transit is sent over HTTPS. Data at rest in Supabase is encrypted on disk and
scoped per user via row-level security so other users cannot see your conversations.
No system is perfectly secure; if you find a vulnerability, please report it to the email
below.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where
required, surface a notice in the app.
